erogenousmind: bannableoffense: I keep staring at this, wondering how it happened… Oh, you know how it is, bannableoffense. You go for a checkup and you always have to wait for the doctor. Our patient here had been taken her to room, asked to strip down and that the doctor would be with her “shortly.” As shortly grew longer and longer, our patient grew impatient. The nurse came by to tell her it would be a while longer still, but she could go ahead and take her vitals and if our patient needed anything, just let her know. But now that she mentioned it, our patient did have an issue that she was sure the nurse could help her with. This pocket watch had been her pocket, you see, and when she had stripped she didn’t know what to do with it. Our patient wanted to be patient so she had passed the time watching the watch swing back and forth just like this. She had found this was a good way for her own patients to learn patience as they passed the time. Can you see? If you see the time pass back and forth before your eyes, before you know it the time has passed. And if you watch carefully, you can learn patience from your patients. You watch them watch the time pass as the watches passes back and forth. And as your patient helps you become more patient, it’s okay that the time to watch the time pass is not yet in the past. Because the past is prologue, and you can see this is the middle of the story. And like any good story, you can immerse yourself in it. You can empathize with the characters. And when you sink into a good book, you find you can relate deeply with what they experience. You see? You can see what the nurse sees. And the nurse watches the time pass back and forth. The watch counting the minutes as you let the minutiae slip away with the passing time, watching only the watch. You can be so patient with our patient. You had come to see to her needs, but now you see she needs you to need to be more patient. Watch the time pass before your eyes, and before long you will become patient for our patient. And that’s the thing about watching the time pass. Do you focus on the watch, or do you watch the focus passing back and forth? If you focus on the watch, you will watch the time pass slowly. You will notice it drift by. But if you watch the focus, you will drift down without noticing. And that can feel so good. Learning patience as you see what it’s like to see yourself sinking deeply into trance. Seeing how intently you focus on the watch. Watching the focus pull you deeper. Letting our patient let you see how easy it is to drift down. I’m sure you do see how this could happen now, don’t you. -- source link
