Bird drama from last weekend: This Toulouse goose clearly didn’t belong on the side of a mountain road, so my partner and I (and a few other concerned drivers) created an hour-long protective car barrier for the guy while we waited for a park ranger. The ranger was incredibly kind and made arrangements for a shelter to take him in. I picked him up and put him in the backseat of the ranger’s truck, where he rode to safety. Conclusions: (1) People who abandon animals on the side of the road (or anywhere) really suck, (2) Geese are really cool and are the perfect size for hugs, (3) All those years of holding wiggly, flappy chickens finally paid off (picking up a big ol’ goosey?
