In 2005, 38-year-old Vladimir Tushynskiy from Kamchatka Krai, Russia, raped his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Yuliya, and then continued to coerce her into cohabitation for 4 years. Yuliya did not tell anybody what had happened to her and what continued to happen. In 2009, when she turned 16, she moved to the mainland, where her parents lived. After Yuliya left, he became hostile towards all females. It is thought that at various bus stops along the road from Petropavlovsk to Yelizov, Vladimir wrote Yuliya’s in name huge letters. With an inability to satisfy his paedophilic urges, he began to drive around in search of girls resembling his stepdaughter, and would then offer to drive them home, choking or stabbing them to death afterwards. Between 2010 and 2014, Vladimir killed a total of 5 females, the youngest being aged 11. In 2014, he killed his last victim, 20-year-old Irina Khodos. Her corpse was found at a bus stop in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. She had tried to scare Vladimir off by saying that she would complain to the police, but this did not stop him. She died from 12 stab wounds inflicted on the neck, chest and back. Before her death, Irina managed to call her mother and told her that a man was offering her a ride home. After the brutal murder of Irina, investigators contacted local media for help, asking for any witnesses to come forward with any information. Having examined the DVR records provided by drivers during the investigation, the investigators found an image of the suspect, as well as his Toyota car. The car was found to belong to 38-year-old Vladimir Tushynskiy and on 17 February, he was arrested. In the trunk of the car an axe, taser, air gun, as well as female tights and an artificial vagina were found. After further examination of his car, traces of blood and hair from Irina were found. A day later, Vladimir confessed to four more murders. However, he claimed that he had not raped the victims. As part of the investigation, more than 60 forensic examinations were conducted, one of which revealed that Vladimir was also a paedophile. It was also confirmed that he was well aware of the nature of all his actions and was declared sane. On 19 February, 2016, Vladimir Tushinsky was found guilty of all counts, including raping his underage stepdaughter, and sentenced to life imprisonment, and to serve his sentence in a special regime colony. The court also granted civil claims to relatives of the victims and also obliged the defendant to pay 500,000 rubles to his stepdaughter. On 5 August, 2016, Vladimir was found dead in the detention centre of the city of Khabarovsk. According to preliminary data, there were no signs of violent death. Dmitry Badanin, head of the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for Khabarovsk, explained how Vladimir died from a sudden cardiac arrest. It is known that he had repeatedly tried to take his own life, but the attempts were unsuccessful due to constant monitoring. Vladimir Tushinsky is often referred to as The Kamchatka Chikatilo. -- source link
