December 2010, 47-year-old Michael Kelly, brutally murdered Sally Cox, 42, and her son Martin Faulkner, 22, with an axe 1 month after Sally ended their ten-month relationship, wearing a horror mask. He called in work that morning explaining he wouldn’t be there, shortly after, he turned up at the house. Sally suffered 14 axe wounds, Martin had 22. During the month he bombarded her with text threats, the last one which explained “I have one last surprise for you!”, he also begged her to take him back, but she no longer wanted anything to do with him and was petrified of what he might do. Sally’s daughters Amy, 19, and Katie, 13, were also in the house, Katie managed to escape unharmed but Amy, who jumped from an upstairs window to get away, ended up in a coma after suffering serious neck injuries. A week before the event happened, Michael complained on Facebook that he was suffering from insomnia: “Wish to christ I could get to sleep but can’t! Thoughts are tearing me apart and got to be up @ 2.45. Insomnia could be the death of me! Please brain, GO 2 SLEEP!” A few days later he posted: “This heart it is searching, for another that’s true! So be careful what you wish for, it might just be you!!..” The night before the killings he wrote: “Tonight has changed my life 4 ever! You know who you are, thanks, dear!” and then on the day on the murder, he posted: “What a lovely job! Still someone’s got to do it!” Michael was sentenced to at least 30 years in jail, although Michael is still obsessed with Sally and keeps a diary, with letters he writes to her. -- source link
