MESSAGE FROM VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN“Tonight, I had the honor of introducing Lady Gaga at the Oscars, where she performed a song she co-wrote to address the issue of on-campus sexual assault. It’s a brave and powerful song. There are folks doing similar things all around the country – unsung heroes who are selflessly stepping up in their communities to raise awareness about this issue. And most people don’t realize it, but every month, we collect nominations, and we invite a select group of these sorts of extraordinary Americans to be honored at an event at the White House. We call them our “Champions of Change.”It’s one of my favorite events we do.You should know that we’ve got one of these events coming up this April, where we’ll lift up the heroes who do some of the most consequential work anyone can do – preventing on-campus sexual violence. I’m talking about students, educators, community members dedicated to making campuses safe for every student. So I want to hear from you, right now. Fill out this form. Tell us about a student hero who has organized on campus, provided resources to victims, or in some way has stepped up to end this scourge once and for all. Nominations close this Thursday, so act soon. And keep an eye out for a note from someone on our team for more information. I’m looking forward to this event. And I’m looking forward to meeting with these true champions. http://go.wh.gov/Its-On-Us-Champs” -- source link
