Nina Simone - Pastel Blues This is first Nina album I ever listened to and it’s fucking brilliant. I don’t know why it took me so long to listen to here but I’m glad I did this album is so good and her piano skills are superb.FATIMA -Yellow Memories I have no clue why she has not gotten the recognition for the album because it’s so well put together. I damn near cried at the end because a lot of the songs really relate to me in my teen years. Live bands complement her voice so well.ArchAndroid - Janelle MonaeThis woman is so damn talented it hurts. The way she setup this album to feel cinematic is fucking brilliant. This flow of the orchestral sounds mixed with electronic is genius and her voice is reminiscent of young Michael Jackson. And on top of that she got bars too.FKA Twigs - Lp1 I remember when I first found her. It was how does it feel music video and I said “oh okay, I see u hoe” I knew she was gonna make a bomb ass album. The whole album feels like you’re swimming through dark waters and her voice is like that light in the distance. She truly is an artist. Erykah Badu- New Amerykah part 2 Mama Badu always comin through wit the good shit and this is one of my favorite albums. I listen to this weekly and am always mesmerized. It such a good continuation of New Amerykah part 1 and has so much emotion in it. I love this woman.Beth Ditto - Beth Ditto Ep I felt like dancin and cryin while listening to this. Although it’s only 4 songs they all are exquisite. I really wish this would have gotten on the airways like most tunes. MF Doom - mm foodI first heard Hoe cakes on tumblr and I was like “where the fuck has this nigga been all my life!!” He’s got bars and amazing beats and samples throughout this album. This was the gateway album to many more. Thunder Cat - The Beyond_Where the Giants Roam I love this dude and has crazy bass skills. His falsetto and bass lines are pure excellence and are always welcomed on my iPod. Tbh I would have given him a Grammy if I was on the panel.Earl Sweatshirt - DorisIts Earl. This nigga always had bars. I swear if I had this album in high school I wouldn’t have been so awkward. This whole album is dark with guttural beats and deep lyrics thrown in for good measure. My little brother put me on and I’m eternally grateful. The Fugees - The ScoreThis is from my childhood. I grew up on killing me softly. It wasn’t until my later years I could understand everything beautiful and complex that is the fugees. I put my little brother on to this master piece and he loves it.
