color-movement: On December 26, 2016, Garland and Rowlett, Texas were hit with a series of tornadoes. 13 people died. Over 450 buildings were damaged or destroyed in Rowlett alone. In the grand scheme of things, this wasn’t that big of a natural disaster. We can think of so many more terrible tragedies that have impacted a much larger amount of people this year alone. But for the people in those cities impacted, this was everything. That’s how most suffering is: if you’re facing it, it is everything. Two very good friends of mine live in Rowlett. They had bought a house there just months before and were waiting for the birth of their first son, which ended up being just days away. They were lucky. Despite the terror that the storm created for them, their house was barely damaged. Their neighbors, however, were not so lucky. The picture I’ve shared today is one my friend took of a house from her neighborhood. It both broke my heart and lifted my spirit. “GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME" Amen. Can you imagine losing everything and yet still proclaiming that to the world in spray paint on the brick of your lost house? Ladies, we’re all going to suffer. Terrible and unfair things are going to happen. That’s a certainty. The question is this: will you let that pain drive you to God, in hope? Or will you give in to the temptation to doubt God, to think that He is not God or that He is not good? “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called to his purpose.”- Romans 8:28 God is not just good when life is good. God is not just good after your pain has subsided. God is good and perfect right when your pain is just beginning, when you’re in the thick of it and you don’t think it’s going to get any better. God is always good. When you’re in the midst of suffering, use it to turn you to God. Cry out to Him. Plead with Him. Pray to Him. Praise Him. He will carry you through the storm.“In the day when I cried out, You answer me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.“- Psalm 138:3 Text by: Katlyn // Personal // Color Movement -- source link
