You can build a fence, put up a solid door, bullet proof your windows, install an alarm system. Yet a dog is still the best deterrent money can buy. The majority of law enforcement officials will attest a home with a dog is less likely to be burglarized especially one that has a dog that’s been properly trained to protect and commit. . Before you go out and purchase a dog, read the rest of this post and remember this saying: “If a dog has never seen it, he wouldn’t know how to deal with it” A breed such as a Rottweiler or German Shepherd is acquired for the purpose to protect your home and family but this isn’t enough to solve your protection needs. Remember that quote? . “If a dog has never seen it, he wouldn’t know how to deal with it” The vast majority of dogs, especially ones that haven’t been formally trained for guard and bite work would not know how to handle a situation such as a break-in or home invasion robbery because they’ve haven’t been trained nor experienced that position to react accordingly in a time of need. . The “Fight or Flight” instinct would kick in and in most cases your guard dog would choose to run instead of stay in the fight. Now there are exceptions to the rule but in my experience they’re far few in between. It is instinctive of a dog to run and hide when they’ve never been in a situation like a home invasion which is why a dog must be trained to know how to react when a situation should arise. . Training a dog to understand how to react when a home invasion should arise is a combination of bite work, confidence building and control work which would lead the dog to maintain itself under pressure. It is done in an exercise form where real life aspects are put in place for a dog to see and for them to become normal. Routines are done over and over which will eventually build a mental muscle memory. A dog will retain these experiences and training skills to know how to handle them with courage and without fear. . A driven dog with the right attitude for protection work is an integral part but in the end it still takes training, time, patience and positive experiences to achieve the results. . #dogs #pets (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNGFb_InMa0/?igshid=1e6vxioudl4k9 -- source link
