karnythia: wolfendreams: clarawebbwillcutoffyourhead: qveeraskvlt: clarawebbwillcutoffyourhead: itsheathern: romeo542: 56blogsstillcrazy: Need to know where I can get 2lbs of chicken for $2 i swear people don’t understand the value of TIME. even if you ignore the bullshit ass prices shown, time is the real difference. it takes time to cook all that shit. time most of us are spending at work earning that $20. add the time it takes to get to/from work and kids to the equation, and it’s time that most of America DOESNT FUCKING HAVE. I wish people would stop trying to make others feel bad about their food choices when they have no idea what it’s like. few people have time to cook a full meal every night, help their children with homework, AND clean before going back to work (notice how I didn’t include sleep? that’s because many people have to sleep on the bus/train, or during breaks at work). if buying a bucket of chicken makes that a little easier, then guess what’s for dinner? fuck each and every person who makes these bullshit infographics. Also, folks forget that you need access to a flipping kitchen in order to prepare fresh food (even if you are able to buy it and have the time to prepare it). And not everyone has unfettered access to a kitchen. Everything said above is extremely correct and legit but I would like to underscore there is no store in the states where you can get that food for $20. And in most of the United States people make 7 something an hour. So. All of this, all of this food snobbery “natural organic omg eat healthy cook buy in bulk” twaddle is the rankest classism and totally ignores reality. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t get that many ears of corn for that price anywhere around here and I sometimes literally go to the farm to get the corn. And like. Idk. I’d love to know where this person lives, probably up the same ass they pulled most of these prices from. I just read the prices for the “healthy” food for the first time, I skipped them bc I saw the KFC prices and rolled my eyes, that shit is gonna be $8 max at KFC that’s the point? But now I’ve read the healthy prices and like what day dreaming republican millionaire child whose nanny does his shopping came up with these prices they’re so out of touch with reality AND BY THE WAY fat free is disgusting and joyless and as @misscherry points out, without flavoring this is all going to be dreadful and this trump-lite wannabe can’t even fake spring for some fat for flavor? I’ll kill em. I’m going to use the brands they used on this image as found at my local Walmart, because there are Great Value items here, which are the Walmart brand. 2 pounds Tyson Trimmed and Ready Bonless Skinless Chicken Breasts: $4.33 per one pound pack, total $8.66 10 pound bag Russet Potatos (can’t clearly see brand so I’m using the cheapest): Basin Gold Russets $4.94 8 ears of corn from the produce section: In season, $0.26 each ear, Out of season $0.89 each ear. Oh look, it’s currently out of season, that’s $7.12 for 8 ears of corn. 1 pound of peaches from the produce section: I don’t know what their price out of season is, but right now they are 0.61 a pound right now. Since these peaches are actually really big, without going over, you’re getting 1 peach. 1 gallon skim milk: Great Value $3.67 1 pound 96% lean ground beef: $4.11 32-ounce tub of 99% fat-free Yoplait yogurt: Sorry, my walmart only sells Dannon in the 32 ounce, and it’s, thankfully, only $2.78. 18-ounce canister of Great Value oats: $2.78 2 pounds frozen Great Value peas: Mine is only selling 12oz bags for 1.23, so without going over, that’s $2.46. 1 pound of Great Value dried kidney beans: Sorry, only 64oz bags here, and I can’t just cut the bag in half, so $3.82. Real Total: $40.95 ALMOST $41 WITHOUT TAX. Not to mention, I pulled these prices off of the Walmart database with my store number as the target, and only three of these things were even currently available in my store. Who knows what they will even have in the store, much less, how much they will cost once you get there. The store owner might have jacked up the prices so they can get a bigger bonus. Also, it’s going to take you almost 3 hours to prepare any kind of meal with this, and that’s IF, you know what you’re going to make with it to begin with. Honestly, your ass better have some flour or something, because this meal isn’t going to go anywhere. Who even shops like this anyway? If you’re going to Walmart, you’re getting the cheapest brands available, and half the time, it’s not even the store brand. So…not Walmart is $41.30. Walmart is $40.95. About that $20… -- source link
