Our 13-year-old dog just had a mass removed from her mouth (probably not cancerous, but we’ll see when the results come back) and an abscess in her foot treated. She is in exceptional health otherwise, though her age is definitely starting to show these days. Pretty sure she’s losing her hearing. Anyway, the kids mostly leave her alone because she doesn’t really play, and after all the crying when they were babies she wasn’t that interested in them either. But she’s been needy lately, and my daughter has been wanting to take care of her. When the dog came home groggy from the vet yesterday, she tried to get her to rest on her bed, but the dog wanted to be right in the center of the kitchen where everyone who walked through would have to step over her (and maybe pet her). For about 15 minutes, my daughter lay there trying to coax her into the bed and eventually just telling her she loved her and hoped she felt better soon. -- source link
