The pilot basically said “hold my beer” and took on a hurricane.I am not entirely convinced that Poe Dameron was not flying this plane, to be honest. You can read the Twitter thread here.Everything about that story was amazing. Delta probably set a record for the turnaround too.“And if the passengers would look out of the starboard window, they will see A MOTHERFUCKING HURRICANE. ALSO A HURRICANE TO PORT AS WELL.”My dude landed and took off in less than an hour and squeezed between the arm of the hurricane and the core:not to mention that the northwest quarter of a hurricane has the highest wind speed and most dangerous weather and they still did iti love how he needlessly endangered his passengers and totally got away with it and made it a caper… this is some mr peanutbutter level shitWhy the fuck was this flight plan filed and cleared for takeoff? Delta should be fined millions for risking people’s lives just for a quick turnaround. The pilot should lose his license as well for not protesting against flying passengers in these conditions.@butterbuttgoatblast because apparently people can’t look at other notes or use Google. This was an evacuation flight. The quick turn around was to stop the storm getting worse and so they could more accurately predict what needs to be done. Delta was saving people’s lives not endangering them THIS The Delta flight was an evacuation flight. It has been cleared by (1) the meteorologists (who saw that gap between Irma’s outer band and the storm’s “body”), (2) the dispatcher (who checked the on-the-ground situation in San Juan, both the passengers’ needs and the ground crew readiness), and (3) the pilots (who has, each of them, thousands of hours of flying experience). Here’s a vid from a passenger of DL302:https://twitter.com/hongslo/status/906660288514031616. -- source link
