Here is a close-up image of Station XII, Jesus Dies upon the Cross. The stations were produced for the church in the 1920s by Ralph Adams Cram. Cram sets these Renaissance style narratives, drawing both from Italian and Northern sources, within these charming Tudor Gothic frames. The use of gilding for the sky and the absence of the kind of colour found on Cram’s other wood sculptures for the church, is highly effective. #Episcopal #AngloCatholic #ThePassionofChrist #RalphAdamsCram #americansculpture #woodscuplture #reliefsculpture #TheCrucifixion #giltwood #gothic #tudor #tudorgothic #renaissancerevival #gothicrevival (at Saint Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church) -- source link
