celebratingamazingwomen: Ishbel Hamilton-Gordon (1857-1939) was a Scottish feminist, philanthropist, and author. She was a well-known activist in London as well as around Aberdeenshire in Scotland, where she founded a school and a hospital, among other enterprises.She became the first president of the Ladies’ Union of Aberdeen in 1883, and was also in charge of the Women’s Liberal Federation, which fought for female suffrage. Later, after she and her family moved to Canada, she became the first president of the International Council of Women, and organized the National Council of Women of Canada. She was also the first sponsor of the Women’s Art Association of Canada. -- source link
