Posted @withregram • @northern.oak.designs After a recent post about how using my phone can trigger vertigo and vomiting, it begs the question…why do I post on here so much? To simplify the answer: I want all people who are treated like they are disposable (including myself) to be able to survive and thrive. Although I have no idea what it’s like to experience many forms of marginalization, through decades of disability and chronic illness I have experienced what it’s like to be treated as disposable, even by lifelong loved ones. The more pain I experience personally, the deeper that pain grows for other people who are treated this way. Am I obsessed with dismantling white supremacy? Classism? Police brutality? Mass incarceration? Absolutely. Our survival and liberation is very closely connected, in that one cannot happen without the other. I enjoy many moments of beauty and occasionally share them, but I’m really here to love, amplify, learn, teach, rally, support, and fundraise. And the truth is I don’t love social media and the ableism I experience here, but when you’re mostly housebound and really sick, aside from a very few family members and friends (if you’re lucky) this is one of the few if not only platforms we have. We are fighting for our lives…and our survival is way more important than your inability to hold space for the complexities of our oppression. If you can’t hear what we have to say because of how we say it…you definitely need to expand your abilities if you ever truly want to support our survival. Please, please, please do this work. Please. You will benefit, too. Thank you to my teachers, space holders, and all who are learning with me.
