Baby’s first Monstera! (And Bromeliad!)I know I haven’t been posting in a whil
Baby’s first Monstera! (And Bromeliad!) I know I haven’t been posting in a while, I’m really trying to keep myself together, but here is the newest haul. (I’ve missed posting photos from the last 2 lol.) The Monsteras are from Trader Joe’s! I found them in great shape for $12 like?? That’s a great price, right???? It’s in soil that’s like completely loose peat moss, too, like damn they really went ALL out for these!! If I wasn’t pressed for space in my room, I probably would have gotten another! The roots were SUPER root-locked though. It was really hard to separate the two, but I think I did it without too much damage. And they look great against this part of my wall that was blank before! The Bromeliad is from Home Depot and was like $9…. …. But I NEEDED it, and was already spending money there on other things. I brought a really cool orange flat Bromeliad to the checkout, but as I was in line I realized it was wobbly and getting crown rot so, just the one now. This red one was also starting to rot because thEY PUT THE BROMELIADS IN COMPLETE HEAVY DENSELY-PACKED SOIL…. BROMELIADS ARE EPIPHYTES LIKE ORCHIDS!!!! NO SOIL!!!! So, I cleaned mine up, and it looks like the base grew in a peat pod, so I left that because it was packed on so tightly. I don’t think it will keep rotting now that I pulled the dead stuff out. It’s currently in orchid bark and sphagnum moss, in a special orchid pot. It’s also growing some white flowers inside the red bract leaves!! Hopefully it lasts a while and gives me a baby to propagate. These plants also had like a 3 day quarantine because I’m lazy and impatient. If I don’t plant them now, I won’t be able to sit still. Anyway, just a small update on the most recent haul. I gotta post updates on what I got last month still. #plant #plants #indoorgardening #indoorplants #monstera #bromeliad #planthaul #fenestration (I love that word lol) https://www.instagram.com/p/CYh4Of_vQyj/?utm_medium=tumblr -- source link
