waymond-wang: waymond-wang: In the end, it’s really just about a family trying to find each other.— Daniel Kwan (director) i made this post because i couldn’t stop thinking about the way physical touch functions in everything everywhere all at once… how waymond in every universe always touches evelyn kindly, like he knows her and loves her, and she never knows how to react because she doesn’t think anyone would want to touch her kindly. how evelyn never touches anyone except when she thinks it will hurt them - including waymond - but even when she’s trying to hurt him he never becomes unkind, and that shocks her into realization so much that she finally unclenches her fist so she can take waymond’s hand.meanwhile joy and evelyn are always orbiting each other, like neither of them quite know how to get closer, like they don’t know how else to be, and as a result joy recoils and pulls away out of fear when evelyn reaches for her. but when they finally come together and embrace it has the cosmic importance of planets colliding. the movie really is about how it’s not just the reaching, it’s also the letting yourself be reached for -- source link
