Good Linux Software Get: KDE ConnectIt’s a sync tool for connecting Android devices to a desktop OS, either Linux or Windows (There’s a mac build but it’s not great). It’s pretty damn good.Core Functionality includes sharing files and clipboard between desktop and mobile, remote media control for players implementing MPRIS, “Find My Phone” functionality, phone as touchpad/keyboard for desktop, and running pre-written commands on the desktop from phone. It does it with the usual polish I’d expect from KDE software, the sync is effortless on wifi and latency is practically zero. File sharing is a lot faster and a lot more stable than bluetooth (the above screenshots were sent to my laptop over KDE Connect). There’s a Firefox/Chrome plugin that talks to the plasma integration daemon if you want to add control of in-browser media, good if you use spotify or youtube or in-browser internet radio. It’s a KDE package but, like most good KDE stuff, you can run it under most environments (I have i3 set up at the moment). My usual solution for remote media control was always just SSH'ing into my machine over the network and using my various media control scripts, but this is certainly a lot more elegant. Highly recommended. -- source link
