I think it’s because Simone keeps saying that “Oh but the entire DCnU is being deaged” when in the Batfam Babs is the only one deaged. I will give Simone that across the board some of the DC characters have been deaged and given new back stories. But not everyone reads all of the books a company puts out, Some people only read the titles that are directly associated with the characters they like. So when you take DCnU Family by Family, You have the entire SuperFamily being changed in major ways, The FlashFamily is almost completely different, The WonderFamily has had their origins all fucked up, The Green Lantern corp hasn’t really changed at all from what I have heard except Jade was never a member, and then you come to the BatFamily;Bruce: Pretty much the sameDick: Nightwing again, otherwise pretty much the same.Jason: Not so angsty, but pretty much the sameTim: Pretty much the same, But he was Red Robin all the time, and Young Justice didn’t happen.Damian: Pretty much the sameSteph:??Cas:??Babs: Is not the strong, independent, Equal and Peer of Bruce that we have had for the past 20+ years, she is not a mentor to young women becoming crime fighters, she is not the badass leader of the BoP. I will admit that it is interesting to see how she is dealing with getting the full use of her legs back and the fact that she knows it can be taken from her one way or another. But it really didn’t need to be written. Especially not when no other character is being changed in the BatFamily in such a major way, with the exception of Selina Kyle from what I understand.I will admit that I thought that the DCnU was going to be a craptastic shitfest when they started talking about it at the end of Brightest Day. And I borrowed the first issue or two that my friends had gotten and I never read any after that. I am not going to go into how I think that with the 52 relatively unexplored dimensions that the DCU had the Company could have made DCnU their Ultimates in one of those dimensions. I will just say that we can’t say that all of the characters in the DCnU are new and different when they aren’t and when the Company seems to have cherry picked what characters they are going to drastically change, and when those that they have picked seem to be either female or have had a strong female partner.Mmmmhm.  Thank you for writing this. -- source link
