Thomas, the storekeeper, sees the guitar strapped to his back and asks if he plays. Newt sings, and in return asks for a book recommendation. They start a bizarre exchange -a new book for a new song- every time Newt drops by, until one day Newt hands Thomas a CD of something he wrote and leaves with a smile.
