The Mauser MP-57,One of the first firearms to be produced by the newly created Mauser Works (1957), the MP-57 was created for the use of the newly formed Bundeswehr (Federal German Army), at the time the defense force of West Germany. Lightweight, inexpensive, and easy to produce, the submachine gun was made from stamped sheet metal, and featured a fold out wire stock. It also has a foldout forward grip for added control, and utilized a blow back open bolt system. The weapon fired from a 32 round magazine and was chambered for 9mm para.Unfortunately the MP-57 was not a success because in 1957 there was so much leftover arms from World War II. It was much cheaper and easier to just use old stocks of surplus firearms. The MP-57 would only be produced in limited quantities. -- source link
