The second boss battle against Dogadon in Donkey Kong 64 has two phases. The first one plays identically to the first battle against him, while the second one is timed, whereby Dogadon makes the arena slowly descend into lava. At the end, the entire platform is engulfed by lava, which is intended to kill the player character. However, as shown in the footage, if the player character happens to stand on the barrel in the middle of the arena at the time when the platform fully sinks into the lava, the Kong in question will be safe, as the platform will stop sinking precisely at the point where the barrel is still above the lava. Dogadon will also stop attacking and simply fly in place. This is an indefinite stalemate. While Dogadon can no longer harm the player, the only way to harm Dogadon is throw the barrel at him. Doing so requires lifting the barrel, leaving the Kong no ground to stand on without dying. (Note that normally, Chunky Kong is playable during this segment. Donkey Kong is the player character in the footage due to the player performing an unrelated glitch that lets any character access any boss battle. This scenario plays out the same way with Chunky Kong.)Main Blog | Twitter | Patreon | Small Findings | Source: youtube.com user “Exchord” -- source link
