cephiedvariable: pixelfable:Los Angeles, 1999 Based on @cephiedvariable‘s BBKaz fic. By no means the most dramatic part, but I liked the atmosphere of this scene and the juxtaposition of domestic, fatherly stuff with Kaz’s eternal curse duty of telling a Snake what to do. The proportions on that kitchen are for a very short person, but at least I drew a background for once!PLEASE IMMEDIATELY SCATTER MY SORROW TO THE HEARTLESS SEA. I ended up sleeping in today because I have a flu and apparently my roommates were out in the living room impatiently flailing because they couldn’t wait for me to get up and see this! It’s beautiful - the composition, the colour, the atmosphere… this is literally exactly the picture, the lighting and the kitchen layout I had in my head while writing this scene. The details are incredible as well (the clunky 90’s spy-computer gear, the file folders, the smog outside, Catherine’s robot and dog drawings *___*). Ngghhhhh, I love it so much!!!!!!!!!!!I also CANNOT BELIEVE that someone would draw this scene! When people do art of fanfics, it’s usually the dramatic or romantic moments that get remembered, so it’s crazy flattering seeing art of a quieter, more introspective moment. But, tbh, those scenes are among the most fun to write for me (which is why my Metal Gear fics keep cracking the 15k barrier). It’s nice to know that my atmospheric writing strikes the same kind of chord with people as the sweeping proclamations about character motivation and torrid kisses do. (This was also one of my personal favourite scenes in the story soooo…… :D).I feel like I’ve lived some kind of charmed adulthood that I’ve gotten to see even a little bit of your incredible art inspired by words and characters that I’ve written. Like, I was not exaggerating when I mentioned in my tags a few weeks ago that you’re one of my favourite artists ever. I just love your style and sense of character and scene so much that I can legitimately stare at your drawings wistfully for hours (I mean, I guess I kinda do since I have a bunch of it on my walls).I’m gonna be a huge loser and print this thing off and stick it on my wall beside all the old Kamil te Kar art I still keep around. ;__; Ahhh–! My insides are warm and fuzzy. But I just wanted to add that you have a great talent for setting a scene/mood, especially when it comes to writing more understated scenarios within universes that are batshit crazy like MGS. And I fucking love it.Plus you always know how to parse out and expand on characters and their motivations in really satisfying ways. KEEP IT COMING. -- source link
