curioushufflepuff:Period Survival GuideI have acquired a few tips and I thought might pass them on to other periodhaving beings.DietI know diet is a bit of a touchy topic. Everyone has their habits and it issometimes hard to fight against those craving. So, I thought it would be easierto start including things to your diet: eat a lot of fruit and drink a lot ofwater or tea. To those who struggle with their appetite because of nausea: tryto eat regularly and enough calories. If you do not eat enough, your bloodsugar will drop, and you will feel even more miserable. Eat: fruit, veggies, nutsCut out: dairy, fatty foods, very sugary foodsSupplementsMake sure you are eating a balanced diet. Iron or magnesium deficiencies canaffect your periods and especially they can intensify your cramps. You can take supplements or adjust your diet (check with your doctor when concerned)TeasTeas are great ☕ There are many teas out there that have been helpingmenstruating people for ages. I can recommend:YarrowLady’s Mantle Raspberry LeafDrinking something warm help you but do not drink anything caffeinated likeblack tea, coffee…HeatMy best friend while I’m menstruating is basically this heating pad plushy mysister got me for my birthday. Urban Outfitters has a cute sloth but I’m sureyou can find cheaper ones online. Also I loooove cherry pit pillows!!! You can also use a hot water bottle. Try using heat!! It works wonders to relax your muscles. Sometimes I heat up two heating pads: to use one for my back pain and one for my cramps Taking it easyStress does not help. Not at all. If you are feeling sick, take it easy. Makesome tea, use a heating pad, take some painkillers, and nap for 20 minutes. Youwill feel better soon. It is ok to take some time off. On the GoOk, coping with cramps during school or work is horrible. I know. Missing 4days of work every month is just not possible. So, here is my guide how to dealwith bad cramps when I’m busy.During that time of the month I avoid wearing jeans. I like to wearleggins with long blouses/flannels over them or skirts/dresses. Hot patches are very helpful. If you are going to class you can also wearleggins, a hoodie and put a hot water bottle/heating pad into the pouchof your hoodie. It makes me feel like a kangaroo PreperationAlso keep an “period emergency kit” with you. Not only you, but also otherswill thank you. What I keep in mine:pain killerssome tea bagshygiene products of your choiceTrack your period with either an app (like clue) orwith a regular calendar so there are less surprises.Anyways, I hope I could help you a bit. If you feel really miserable when you are on your period, talk to a doctor about it. Your pain is real. You are not making it up. Don’t make others make you feel even worse about your pain. -- source link
