kemetic-dreams: *Ancient Medicine During Nile Valley Civilization and Imhotep’s Papyrus*What if I told you that the worlds first known architect, engineer, and physician in recorded history was an African man? Well, he was. He came from the land Kemet that is now known as Egypt, and his name was Imhotep. You wouldn’t generally learn that if you grew up in western society. The western world credits the Greek man, Hippocrates, with being the father of medicine even though he wasn’t even born until 1,000 years after the Grand Master Imhotep. Imhotep is often credited with being the author of a papyrus that is considered to be the oldest known detailed written document that discusses surgery, different medical procedures, and trauma. The document was purchased in 1862 by an American Egyptologist, Edwin Smith and was then named after him. The Edwin Smith Papyrus is deemed to be the greatest of its time. Written sometime during the 18th dynasty in Kemet, the document goes into detail about 48 different injuries to the body and what medical procedures and surgeries should be used to treat them. In the book, “Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization” the author discusses the importance of the papyrus because of the use of the word brain and its relationship with the body.If one were to become sick during antiquity, the best place to do so would be in the Nile Valley. The dark skinned people Kemet had been practicing medicine long before any invader came across their land. There is even significant evidence that the people of Kemet were well rounded in gynecology, obstetrics, dermatology, dentistry, etc. There’s also sizable evidence that physicians in Kemet practiced circumcision and brain surgery! Most of everything we know today can be attributed to the ancient ways and teachings of the people of the Nile Valley. The Grand Master Imhotep was the worlds first known father of medicine and the western world needs to credit him as such. Medicine began in the Nile Valley and the people of the Nile were the worlds very first medical healers. We must acknowledge Imhotep’s teachings and ancient medicine in Kemet because it was the foundation for medicine as we know it today.-Samadhi (The Golden Nubian) #KnowThyself#Medicine #AncientKemet #Imhotep #NileValley#EdwinSmithPapyrus #Enlightenment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu0z6zyc2J8 -- source link
