How surreal to even be here, writing an announcement celebrating Rookies running for four years now.
How surreal to even be here, writing an announcement celebrating Rookies running for four years now. We’re extremely amazed, honored, and proud to be able to celebrate this anniversary, and we’re so thankful for all of the members for making Rookies what it is. Some of the members that were accepted on the first day are still here today, whether it’s with the same character or not, and that’s really remarkable. Thank you, everyone, for choosing to spend some of your limited and valuable time with us in Rookies, whether it’s just been a few days, or it’s been a few years now. It’s such a privilege for your staff to be a part of running something with this much longevity, with members as dedicated and passionate as you all are. We’re thankful to the members that are no longer part of Rookies, too! Everyone that ever showed interest in the roleplay, and shared their characters and talent with us, has gotten Rookies to where it is today, and we think that’s a pretty great place! It only seems fitting to use this time to reflect a little on some RK history, and to give credit to all of the previous admins and mods. Without any of them, Rookies wouldn’t have gotten to this point, either! Four years ago today, in December 2013, the original founders of rookiesrp, Julie and Jaiden, accepted the first members into the roleplay. Without them, their amazing ideas, and the framework they put into place, none of us would’ve even been here, let alone had anything to build on.It was in March that Admin Piper and mods Kim and Jenn came on board, and in April that they fully took over running the roleplay. They did an absolutely stellar job of it, and brought Rookies through all of 2014 and 2015, until mods Carly, Kyle, Mira and Shannen came on board in November 2015 following the departure of the former mods. The “second generation staff team,” if you want to call them that, built upon Julie and Jaiden’s ideas, and ensured Rookies had the staying power you associate with it today. Without them and all of their hard work, we wouldn’t be here to make this announcement today, either! It was in August of 2016 that the rookieskrp main we’re using today was born, Admin Piper went on hiatus, and your current head mods stepped up to the plate to fully run the roleplay in her absence. It was in March (and April) of 2017 that Mod Shannen took her leave, and the mods you know and love joined us, finalizing the current staff team. Here we are, a Rookies still kicking and thriving as much as ever! We feel truly blessed to be here, and to continue making Rookies history with you guys every day. With this comes another big change, and another notable moment in Rookies history that’s a bit of a sad one. Admin Piper will officially be taking her leave now, from both the staff team and the roleplay as a whole. She had high hopes of returning to us, but real life still demands as much of her attention as ever, and it’s more important for her to keep focusing on it now. We can’t express enough gratitude for all of her hard work and dedication to Rookies. She was an absolute admin powerhouse despite never having prior adminning experience, and we wish those of you that joined in the past year would’ve had the chance to meet and talk to her, and experience some of her awesome ideas. She did a great job of guiding us in our roles as mods, and none of your head mods would be the team members they are today without her. We’ll miss her, but we’re also really glad that we’ve done well enough taking care of Rookies for her to be able to focus entirely on her own life in peace now. We wish her nothing but good things in her life, and we’ll work hard to make her vision for Rookies a reality!! (If she has any ideas she wants to share with us, too, you bet we’ll still be all ears!)Even though this announcement as a whole is bittersweet, it all points to how spectacular Rookies is. Four years is a long time, and people moving on is completely natural, but in that time, even with the staff team changing, Rookies remains consistent, and that won’t change anytime soon! We aim for Rookies to stay as a reliable roleplaying home, for you all to explore and develop your characters, both short-term and long-term, and we’re really excited about what Rookies will look like when we’re back here, celebrating our five year anniversary with you.The best part of all of this is that it’s just the beginning– not just for Rookies, but for the anniversary celebrations! We couldn’t let RK’s official birthday pass without note, but we have more festivities coming up this Wednesday, so please look forward to it. Most importantly:THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, ROOKIES! -- source link
