They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and Wilhelm von Gloeden inspired many to recreate his distinctive, pioneering work in the late 19th and early 20th centuries : here we see a photograph by Gaetano D'Agata where both hilltop setting and curled pose have been inspired by von Gloeden’s famous Cain. Taken in 1923, this falls a tad outside my self-imposed limit of the end of the 1910’s, but the style of this man’s work is so very like those earlier Arcadian photographers, it just seems to fit. -- source link
