fuckyeahavengingarcher:fuckyeahavengingarcher:Hawkeye: Having Captain America around you all the time. He just— the guy just brings out the absolute best in people. You… want to be good when he’s around. You really do. Ivan, look around you real quick. Because, right now? Captain America ain’t here. This nod to Steve and Clint’s dynamic was one of my favorite parts of this issue, and a nice way of nodding at greater continuity without weighing down its accessibility. After all, who is Hawkeye, but the guy who yells at Captain America? That has been his default stance since he joined the Avengers—the slightly less moral foil to Steve’s black-and-white ethics. Clint sees Steve that way even when the story or narration don’t; because Steve is the “boy scout,” Clint can push the envelope and do riskier things. And he has always seen Steve as his moral compass even though he constantly goes against him. Speaking of moral questionability, though, Clint does a few things in this issue that are suspect. And the repercussions could-and should—come back to him later on.From Hawkeye Volume 4 #01 (Matt Fraction & David Aja) -- source link
