He was a British diplomat and journalist who is most famous for his autobiography,’The World, the Flesh and Myself’, which begins with the words ‘I am a lover of boys’.One of his lovers in the 1930s, was a beautiful sixteen year old young mountain guide in Austria, called Francois. During their ‘affair’ they frequently make love in the boy’s hut. Francois guides tourists up the treacherous mountain pathways. He convinces Davidson, who has a fear of heights, to go with him. On a very dangerous precipice the boy acts the fool, singing and dancing, while Davidson is quaking with fear. He convinces Francois to come down, and the boy taunts him, and calls him a coward. Some days later Davidson has to go to Vienna on diplomatic business for a few weeks. He is greatly looking forward to seeing his young lover on his return, but when he get back finds his hut is empty. Eventually he learns from the other boys that Francois, in attempting to rescue a tourist caught on the precipice, has fallen, and died by breaking his neck. -- source link
