The prisoner was forced to strip before the other soldiers. Naked he dug his own grave as a number of men watched and humiliated him with insults. The captain ordered the prisoner to turn and stand on the edge of the pit. He drew his pistol, aimed at the prisoners head. The gun blast was loud. The prisoner crumpled into the pit.
