In 1953 mysterious objects plummet to various points on earth. Soon the objects open, revealing themselves to be transportation pods for alien craft, from the planet Mars. Emerging in groups of three, the seemingly unstoppable Martian war machines wreck havoc on planet Earth, and it’s people. Now, one could argue that these machines aren’t really ships. In fact, they even sorta explain that they are lifted by invisible legs in the movie. But, I’m calling them a spaceship, cause they come from space, and they fly. And they’re pretty darn badass too. And legit scary for a 1950s movie. -- source link
