girlactionfigure: The San Remo Conference The San Remo Conference was an international gathering of the post-World War I Allied powers aimed at divvying up the formally Ottoman-ruled lands in the Middle East.The conference convened from April 19-26, 1920, and concluded with the assignment of the Palestine and Mesopotamia Mandates to the United Kingdom, and the Mandate for Syria to France.At the time, Palestine included both sides of the Jordan River (i.e. modern day Israel and Jordan), in which the UK was charged with implementing the Balfour Declaration that favored the establishment of a Jewish national home.
