Look how the painter aligned the bear’s shoulderblade with a ripple in the cave wall! And it’s hard to tell from a still picture but it looks like they did the same under the bear’s belly. Many many cave paintings incorporate the topography of the cave walls, lending them realism. The effect would have been very noticeable by the flickering light of the bone-marrow lamps they used.
