bethanyactually:watchhowisoar:bethanyactually:Now, full-time workers should get health insurance, right? Well, to get around that, Value!More, they don’t even offer full-time jobs.#oh this show #it’s like the very best of sci fi #without actually being sci fi #my heart #it overflows (goblinconceivable)#that is an excellent point #this show is a good non sci-fi show for sci-fi fans #and like good sci-fi it’s all based on reality #I was actually thinking this about Community too #it’s like sci-fi in so many ways #the alternate timelines #the canon AUs #but it’s not sci-fi (bethanyactually)I noticed many times throughout watching Leverage how similar it is to Community, actually. Just in the way they both play with story-telling. Using narrative frames from other genres. Subverting tropes. Purposefully leaning on how well the audience knows how a story is suppose to go. You’re right, they are similar in that way! Community leans a bit harder on the fourth wall, and is goofier at times, but…yeah. They’re both about found family. The groups both start out being led by the guy who started it all but in the end are led by the youngest woman. Both groups get involved in capers and cons. Both shows are all about subverting tropes and playing with the audience’s genre-savviness. tl;dr - If you’re a sci-fi fan, you’ll probably like Leverage and Community. If you like Leverage, you’ll probably like Community (and vice versa). -- source link
