storytellerknight:Twenty Days of Arthurian BooksThe ListDay Two: Knight Life by Peter David (the revised edition)What was your OTP of the book: Ummmmm… I mean, I enjoyed the Gwen/Arthur fluff. That was cute. But there was really no pairing in this story that stuck out to me or left me starry eyed. Although… Gwen threatening Arthur with mace (pepper spray) and him holding up an actual mace in response will always be one of my favorite scenes in a book.Would you recommend this book?: I would. I find this book to be hilarious. And it mixes my two favorite things: King Arthur and US politics. Peter David has a keen eye for everything that’s wrong in the US politically system and he deconstructs it brilliantly in a way that will forever make me laugh (the fact that the other two candidates are utter tools, Arthur’s two second campaign ads, him starting off by shouting from atop a statue). Also, Merlin is a grown man stuck in the body of an eight year old child. Which means he can be condescending, know-it-all and am an ass hole Merlin and it’s awesome. Because he’s eight and nobody takes him seriously. What is the worst thing about this book?: Mordred’s death. I don’t want to get too deep into spoilers but it wasn’t fair. It felt like David did that because that was the way the story was supposed to end without considering other ways he could have ended it if he had just his characters a little harder to address their issues. -- source link
