Day 6Refections on: Fear Street: Part One - 1994 (2021)The movie starts with Closer by Nine Inch Nails so it is immediately good.Much like Stranger Things this uses pop culture references to endear itself to the viewer. It relies so heavily on nostalgia that it becomes almost distracting. Oh wow here comes another 90′s hit! Wait… that Garbage song wasn’t even around in 1994!The main character has a Temple of the Dog poster in her bedroom. Nice.It was surreal to watch something written by R.L. Stine containing actual blood and gore and guts and goo-based horror. I kept waiting for it all to be a dog’s dream or the curse of the haunted were-potato or something. Multiple actors in this were also in the show Panic (2021) which was ridiculous and sadly cancelled after one season. Check it out I guess? The younger brother character hangs out in chatrooms, plays Castlevania, listens to White Zombie and recites the Konami Code under his breath frequently. That’s a lot of nostalgia as opposed to character development. If you live in a town where there’s a string of horrific murders once a decade or so I’d say that’s probably not the best place to raise a family. I don’t care how affordable the houses are. Get outta there! This is enjoyable if you don’t mind all the anachronistic stuff. -- source link
