skycowboys:shoresoftheshadowlands:wandaluvstacos:wandaluvstacos: I am such a huge horse nerd and I apologize. :( But I’m really tired of seeing girths that are halfway down a horse’s stomach. This may not be interesting to anyone who is not me, but I like to draw fancy saddles and ridiculously long shanks on bits. Also, horses are the only animal I can draw, so I take advantage of that. I hope this helps some frustrated non-horsey artists in at least some small way. Remember, when in doubt, add some buckles and some rings. :) I keep seeing these weird ass girths on saddles people draw. It’s a belt, yo. A belt a horse wears at its “waist”, i.e. the narrowest part of its abdomen that is not its crotch area. Horses tend not to like girths near their back legs. Case in point:That strap in front of their back legs is what makes bucking broncos buck. @skycowboys This would probably be vital info for fan artists of the SC world xD I recall we had a convo a long time ago about how horse equipment is shown in media and this addresses all those problems! This is some gooood reference for any artist, WOW -- source link
