privilege-does-not-exist: sexualrepublican-blog: A: The problem with the vast majority of social justice warriors (and feminists in particular) is that they’re far more interested in vindication and retribution than they are in any sort of actual equality Definitely! I was scrolling through a bunch of social justice warrior blogs and it was all this bullshit education on why certain opinions and words alienate oppressed groups, and tips on how to deal with difficult situations that put down oppressed groups, and how to stick up for oppressed groups when they’re being slandered. All about revenge. Not about seeking equality at all! That’s my biggest problem with the social justice movement, to be totally honest. I personally believe in equal opportunity for everyone, and if that’s what the social justice community actually cared about, like they claim to, I’d be behind them 100%. But that's not what they care about. They want some sort of retribution for the years of discrimination Oppressed Group X experienced, and they want the people who are “privileged” to feel shameful that this discrimination occurred, even if the “privileged” party did nothing to contribute to the discrimination. It’s a ludicrous notion, and it’s a severe detriment to their “cause,” but they don’t care (and will shout you down if you point it out) because they feel they have the moral high ground here. -- source link
