heterotopian:The Tale of Two Cities according to Stephi and Heiko – Part 303Next week would be one of the biggest in Cologne during the course of a normal year. But since we all forgot what the word ‘normal’ actually means, everything will be different, again and still. To not speak in riddles, next week would be the beginning of the high carnival season. We call it Karneval and event Stephi got around calling it by its proper name and no longer referring to the event as Fasching. I am so proud of you. Yet, no wonder that she finally gets it right when we cannot celebrate.Last year, I was still out, partying hard as hard can be. I had some memorable nights, as much as my intake of beers allowed memorizing them days. Yet, I do remember a lot and I did have an amazing time and met wonderful people. That is/was Cologne, while Stephi is living in Munich in which carnival is not a big thing at all. But that doesn’t matter this year as much either. So, we present you one of the last things that is left of carnival, its pastries. And I am sure we already talked about it during the years we did our series and here the differences of our cities appear again. That’s why Stephi is showing you a Krapfen in the first picture while I show you a Berliner in the second one. And while they have totally different names, they still look alike. All that is left for me to say right now is – with a tear in my eye – Alaaf! -- source link
