I had the pleasure of reading Mary Astor’s Purple Diary a few weeks ago. She led a fascinating life to say the least. Her relationship with John Barrymore (who was much older than she) was perhaps the most interesting. The illustrations are pretty awesome, and I especially love the one pictured here. Apparently, he really said that to her when he broke things off with her. Very fitting and true I think. If you love Old Hollywood, I would highly recommend reading this! -- source link
