plantbutch: DYKE FLAG so it was brought to my attention that while there’s a sapphic/wlw flag, a multitude of lesbian flags, and the labrys flag, there’s not really a dyke flag. (and don’t get me wrong, plenty of people in our community identify as dykes, but not every lesbian and/or sapphic is comfortable reclaiming dyke, so it’s important to make that distinction.) I was asked to make this flag by the (other) mods of @DykeHistory on Twitter, please check out their awesome content! black - power, strength, and freedom that comes with reclaiming dyke. also representative of any and all black wlw and black nonbinary sapphics who identify as dyke, as they have always been the backbone of this community. purple - the bittersweet history of ‘dyke’ as a violent slur used against us becoming a positive identifier in our lives. magenta - a never-wavering love for women (as attraction to and the desire to be with women in public is what gets us called “dykes” by homophobes on the street). pink - inner peace. and acceptance of trans women. white (labrys) - empowerment, justice, and intolerance of bigotry (we don’t welcome TERFs/TWERFs, butchphobes, femmephobes, bi/panphobes, lesbophobes, homophobes, racists, or any bigots. period). -- source link
