flowerishness: TrilliumThe rule of 3′sIn the world of the Trillium all good things come in threes: three large leaf-like bracts, three sepals, three petals, three stigmas and six stamens (six being divisible by three). Native to temperate North America and Asia, there are over fifty species world-wide but only a single species, Trillium ovatum (the Pacific Trillium) is native to the Vancouver area. I bought this specimen in a plant shop many years ago and I can’t say for sure that this is a Trillium ovatum - so at this point I will invoke the ninth Commandment, “Thou shall not bear false witness” and just call it a Trillium. Incidentally, the number nine is also divisible by three. -- source link
