guts-and-uppercuts: There is a reason why Lau Kar Leung was and is referred to by the nickname “Pops” in the kung fu cinema community. Not only was he, quite literally, one of the fathers of modern martial arts choreography but he he worked with EVERYONE.Above are photos of him with Jet Li, Kara Hui, Wu Jing, Chow Yun Fat, gordon Liu and brother, Lau Kar Wing, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Yuen Woo Ping and even Chiaki Kuriyama. You name them, Lau Kar Leung worked with them in some capacity. He even worked on the original “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie. He’s responsible for the “The 36th Chamber of Shaolin” trilogy, countless other Shaw Brother classics and both starred in and co-directed “Drunken Master 2″.I don’t think there’s a single person that influenced the genre like he did. He had a presence in every decade he was working in film and continued to revolutionize things as he went. A true example of a legend. -- source link
