He’s surprised, confused at first. And then he accepts it and holds her hand. He’s relieved because this time even he dies he’s not alone! He said later that he’s afraid of being alone. But now he has someone else with him who geniunely cares for him and he cares for her too! And the connection of their touch is so strong it spikes a nexus event! Within the apocalypse! Just by holding hands! Imagine their power! thinkin now about how rolling up his sleeves was a metaphor for letting down those defensive walls and leaving himself open, just a little bit the way he flinches when she touches him!! and has to look down to check what’s happening!! because it’s been a long damn time since anyone’s touched him with any gentleness, and because he’s so focused on trying to comfort her that it doesn’t even occur to him she might want to offer him some comfort in return!!! and then the way they grip each other’s hands because they’re going to die but at least they won’t die alone!!! it hurts real good!!! Touch starved Loki causes me pain. Like the bad hurts but also the good hurts and I hate it for him. T_T ALSO I’M REBLOGGING AGAIN BECAUSE THAT LAST GIF. His face absolutely screams “Could this be my person? Do I actually get a person after centuries of thinking I wouldn’t?” @birdbrain90i’ve always loved the look in those last gifs because that’s his reaction to seeing the last of Sylvie’s walls drop. she’s just completely scared, borderline hyperventilating and hanging onto him like a lifeline even though they’re both about to die, and he looks at her like that, like the fact that she would reach out to him for comfort in her terrified, self-grieving final moments is both unfamiliar and yet worth everything in the universe. in that moment he wants nothing more than to be whatever she needs, which works as the positive feedback loop i’ve mentioned before because the fact that he’s capable of being a comfort to someone else gives Loki himself comfort (perhaps because it’s a direct disproval of “i’m the monster parents tell their children aboutat night”) i’ve said it once and i’ll say it again and again forevermore: this is the moment that Sylvie becomes his glorious purpose Not to mention the start of Loki’s betrayal began with his arm being touched and him discovering he was a frost giant. The same arm. One touch made him aware of his pain, another touch soothed it. -- source link
