Simpson, Princess Di, the stupid ass trial/ impeachment Bill Clinton, Y2K, 9/11, the Patriot Act, Bush Jr. (nuff said), Katrina, the housing crisis, the epic failure that is Obamacare, the terrible disaster with the nuclear power plant in Japan, Flint Michigan, Donald. Fucking. Trump. (the 2nd president in my lifetime to win solely because of the electoral college), and now we’re smack in the middle of a global fucking pandemic where most of us are literally on the front lines because we work jobs deemed essential so we get to be at risk every damn day while y'all can not fucking stay home like you’re supposed to and hoard all the stuff everyone fucking needs like a greedy bitch, and we’re likely gonna be hit the hardest by the economic backlash of this fucking plague. And people wonder why I have anxiety and depression as known issues and probably more that are unknown. I once read an article which talked about this kind of depression specificaly. It was said that on one side, there are depressions caused by things like family relationships, love troubles, health issues etc (which are all valid reasons and i’m not saying people whose depression focuses on these aspects have it any easier, not at all) which are mostly treatable with a change of environment, finding new job, getting the right kind of medical attention etc. Sure, it may be harder in some cases, but the point is that once the main cause (or more causes) is taken care of, depression disappears/becomea less severe.Meanwhile depression caused by things like uncertainity of one’s income due to global econom crisis, direct treat of war/closeness to war zone, a huge scale natural disaster or a fucking pandemic - those are some untreatable long term causes making it almost impossible to fight against that downward spiral. There’s no use to fix relationships with your old schoolmates years after certain incidents if you have to attend your mother’s funeral the next day. There’s no point in getting a laser surgery to get rid of that huge ass birth mark on your face everyone always stares at if at the end of the week police forces you to vacate your flat you couldn’t pay for for whatever reason, making you homeless. There’s no fucking reason to feel better by sniffing on flowers when the rest of your country is burning, flooded by a tsunami, or both.And right now, we all are exactly there - neurotypical or not -- source link
