And the “yes” he says, instead of “ya”, “yeah” or a snarky remark … he is nervous… and John knows! Yes, thank you. I absolutely love this scene. You would expect Sherlock to say something like “Well, yes. Of course. Why wouldn’t I be ready, John?” and then make him feel stupid for asking. Sentiment and all that. But instead he glances at John, head lowered and unsure, and says “yes” so gently John would have missed it had he not been listening. And then as soon as that door opens, he holds his head up and stands straight, the usual disinterested look back on his face. This was a freaking beautiful moment. I think it shows how much Sherlock’s grown to trust John. He trusts John not to ridicule him or even comment at all on the fact that the Great Sherlock Holmes is nervous, maybe even a little bit afraid. I just have a lot of feelings about these two. I just have a lot of feelings about these two. We all seem to have these feelings. Also, as they get outside you can hear John say, “Get in.” not sure why that gives me feelings, but it does I CAN’T HANDLE ALL THE FEELS. Dead. This post was the reason I watched Sherlock in the first place. Not a single regret. I just want to add, for me, it was the bullish protectiveness of John once he got outside the door that gave me massive feels; the glare at the cameras, the hand brought up to literally ward away the intruders into their privacy. They both know what’s coming and Sherlock lets- wants- John to lead the charge, so to speak- and John does so admirably, with his patent determination and backbone that we only really see when Sherlock is being threatened.Yay feels. John doesn’t take his eyes away from Sherlock’s face until Sherlock responds. John’s the doctor, who’s ultimate concern is the well-being of his patient. John’s the soldier, and he’s leading the way into the battlefield. OMG, it’s true! John’s so protective of Sherlock and Sherlock let’s him protect him! Awwww! <3 -- source link
