YamnuskaAlso known as mount John Laurie, this peak in Alberta in Canada is another example of an overthrust nappe of rock pushed by the compressive forces that formed the Rockies. The First Nation Nakoda name translates as wall of stone derived from the word for flat faced mountain. It rises 2,240 metres up at the edge of the thrust front that marks the beginning of the great plains.
