Atandwa Kani!!!He was also a founding member of the Market Theatre: the company that pioneered protest theatre and played a HUGE role in raising international awareness of Apartheid. When he won the Tony for Best Actor in The Island/Sizwe Bansi is Dead (which he helped write, btw), he was immediately arrested upon returning to South Africa. He’s STILL one of the best Othello’s EVER. He’s still on the board of The Market today and has become a brilliant playwright in his own right in recent years. As a South African, I am fucking THRILLED to see him get the global recognition he so richly deserves./\ -- source link
