daystarsearcher:unwillingadventurer:This scene is precious. The Doctor is angry with her for refusing the sacrifice to go ahead. He really shouts at her, and that great he authority he shows, just all comes out and he’s quite frightening. But Barbara’s hurt by it and deep down she knows that he was right, but she wanted to try and stop the killing. Her human compassion took over. The Doctor softens when he sees she didn’t mean it and she’s upset, he now understands different points of view. He apologises for being harsh and comforts her. He’s grown a lot since the day he was going to leave her behind in the Dalek city. Back then he wasn’t interested in Barbara’s feelings and he had no sense of duty toward her, but now he’s there to tell her he’s sorry, to help her see that they need to work out what to do next. He was cross with her, but you can see he values her and cares for her a lot. And then of course he mentions a certain Aztec lady and has that twinkle in his eye. Barbara notices it too, he can be very charming when he wants to be!I adore the One and Barbara BFF dynamic they get in these later episodes. -- source link
