Hey all - it’s time for a new season. Happily this season has less anime than most, unhappily not much of it looks that interesting to me. With a convention only a week away, I’m not sure how many I’ll cover, but I’ll do my best! Let’s get started.Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no YaibaStreaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation.MC lives in the mountains with his big family. MC goes to town to sell some coal. MC is getting home late and spends the night with an old man raving about demons killing people. MC scoffs. MC gets home and finds his family dead all but his sister who is now a demon. Should have believed your elders. It’s okay though, MC is going to save his sister. On premise alone, this series doesn’t interest me so far. Nothing happened in this first episode that really caught my attention or blew me out of the water. It was pretty standard and by the books. (Which isn’t a bad thing, just not a particularly eye catching thing.) What DOES have my attention though, is the production side of it. Ufotable? Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina working together on the same show? That’s all very cool and enough to drag me back for another episode even if nothing else made me all that interested.Let’s hope the story gains better traction and lives up to the standards I harshly put on it from knowing some of the people involved. (and I’m leery, because the trailer for this show has that tone breaking screaming kid.) If not, at least I have a great OST to look forward to in the future???Will I watch Episode 2? Yes, but good music and effects composition can only hold my attention for so long. -- source link
