Colt 3rd Model Dragoon percussion revolver that belong to Lt. Col. Thomas J. Jackson during the American Civil War.During the Civil War, Jackson served with the 42nd Indiana and later the 11th Colored Regiment. A unit of African American soldiers, they were famous for being massacred at Fort Pillow by Confederates who had orders to kill all black Union soldiers and their commanders who surrendered. Lt. Col. Jackson was shot, bayonetted, smashed up side of the head by the butt of a musket and then kicked into the river to drown. Regardless of his wounds and being left for dead he managed to survive the massacre and the rest of the war.Sold at Auction: $9,375 -- source link
